From Margin to Mainstream
Author: Sue Warren

Synopsis:
This book traces the build-up of interest in environmental stories in selected British newspapers during the late fl 1980s and seeks the catalyst which legitimised general coverage of all aspects of the environment as a mainstream part of daily news. It looks at a selection of stories and the volume and quality of coverage, and at the briefs, attitudes and roles of environmental journalists.

From Margin To Mainstream is the first in a series of paperbacks developed and expanded from original research carried out for theses and dissertations for advanced degrees and doctorates The aim of the series is to increase the availability of a wealth of useful advances in research on topics connected with the environment which would otherwise have limite4 circulation through the inter-library loan system. The data research for Sue Warren’s book was carried out between August 1988 and February 1990 with additional study of press coverage of the 1992 Earth Summit.
